Orpheus Chamber Orchestra

On March 31, the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra will be performing in Branscomb Auditorium at Florida Southern College. The orchestra has been performing for 30 years. They have won a Grammy Award and performed in Carnegie Hall on nurmerous occasions.

The orchestra is widely known as the ensemble that plays without a conductor. It takes true talent and musicianship to be able to play major works successfully without a leader. They have recorded almost 70 albums.

There are 18 string players and 10 wind players in this self-governing group, and many of them hold teaching positions at music conservatories and universities.

"Orpheus is a first-class group. Playing with perfect unanimity, their performances have polish and spirit, and display an infectious love for making music." The New York Times
