Roberta Peters

On Friday, April 1, the famous American opera singer Roberta Peters performed at Florida Southern College. She sang three pieces as a part of the college's presidential inauguration ceremony.
Roberta started voice lessons at the age of thirteen and sang for the first time with the Metropolitan Opera Company at the age of nineteen. She sang with the Met for over thirty-five years, which is the longest tenure of a female singer in the history of the company. She has sung more than 500 performances and has played over twenty different roles.
Peters has appeared on television countless times, and has won several awards for her talents. She has sung for eight U.S. presidents, and has served on the boards of the Metropolitan Opera Guild and the Carnegie Hall Corporation.
It was truly a memorable night to have her grace the stage of Branscomb Auditorium on Friday evening.
