Swan Lake

The Russian National Ballet company will be performing Swan Lake on Saturday, April 9, at Florida Southern College. This is the company's first tour in North America. They travel with their own sets and a full orchestra.

The beautiful music of Tchaikovsky will accompany the ballet dancers on the stage of Branscomb Memorial Auditorium at 7:30 p.m.

Vladimir Petrovich Begichev commissioned Tchaikovsky to write the ballet music in 1875 for the Russian Imperial Theatre in Moscow. Begichev wrote the first story for the ballet. It is based on old tales of swan maidens. These women, who turn into swans, were graceful and beautiful creatures who were treasured in legends for centuries.

This amazing ballet has been performed throughout the ages and loved by millions. Don't miss this spectacular event.
